📖 Course Overview
The SSI Scuba Diver course is a shortened entry-level certification designed for travelers, vacationers, and anyone who wants to experience scuba diving in a shorter time frame. Over two days, you'll learn the essential skills needed to dive safely under the direct supervision of a certified professional.
The course begins with academic sessions covering core dive theory: how pressure affects your body, basic equipment functions, communication signals, and safety procedures. Using SSI's engaging digital materials, you'll quickly grasp the fundamentals needed for supervised diving.
Next comes confined water training in a pool or shallow protected area. Here you'll learn essential scuba skills: equipment assembly and disassembly, mask clearing, regulator recovery, breathing from a shared air source, buoyancy basics, and underwater communication. Your instructor provides hands-on guidance as you build confidence in a safe environment.
Finally, you'll complete two open water dives in the ocean under direct instructor supervision. These dives take you to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet) in Kuta Lombok's pristine reefs, where you'll practice your skills while experiencing incredible marine life including turtles, tropical fish, and vibrant corals.
Upon successful completion, you'll earn the SSI Scuba Diver certification, allowing you to dive under the direct supervision of an SSI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters. This certification can be upgraded to the full Open Water Diver certification with additional training at any time.
