Deep Diving
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty at Signature Scuba Kuta Lombok is a training program that focuses on enabling divers to safely explore deeper underwater environments around southern Lombok. Under the guidance of our SSI & PADI certified instructors, you’ll learn deep dive planning, gas management, nitrogen narcosis awareness, and emergency procedures.
Upon certification, you’ll be qualified to explore Kuta Lombok’s deeper treasures — including deep walls, pinnacles, and sites where larger pelagics roam — that are off-limits to recreational divers. This specialty also counts toward your SSI Master Diver rating.
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification is highly recommended for divers who want to experience deeper dive sites, such as wrecks, caves, or deep reefs, while maintaining safety and confidence.
This course combines practical, hands-on training with in-depth theoretical learning to prepare you for the challenges of deep diving. 📖 Course Overview
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty course is a comprehensive program designed to expand your diving limits while maintaining the highest safety standards. Over two days, you'll complete a combination of classroom theory sessions and 2-3 supervised open water dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters (130 feet).
The academic portion covers the physiological effects of deep diving, including nitrogen narcosis, decompression sickness, and oxygen toxicity. You'll learn advanced gas management techniques, dive planning for deeper profiles, and how to use specialized deep diving equipment. The course also addresses emergency procedures specific to deep diving environments.
During the practical dives, you'll practice buoyancy control at depth, navigation techniques for deep sites, proper ascent rates, safety stop procedures, and emergency response drills. Each dive is conducted under the direct supervision of a certified SSI Instructor who provides real-time feedback and skill refinement.
Upon successful completion, you'll earn the SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification, allowing you to plan and execute dives to 40 meters independently. This certification is a prerequisite for many advanced courses, including Wreck Diving and technical diving programs, and counts toward the SSI Master Diver rating.
